Why couldn't they have had a mathematician do this as a true pie chart? Can you figure out the percentages? #mathintherealworld #mathteacher

I really need to figure this out. If I wanted to drink this much water per day and I would consume 8 oz. per hour beginning at 6 a.m., what time would I have my last 8 oz. of water?

Playing with patterns and equations. What equation could you use to determine the 10th or 100th iteration? What can you tell about the next iteration? #mathintherealworld #mathteacher #patterns #area #perimeter #proportions #ratios #equations

I just like the simplicity of the unit rate here. #mathintherealworld #mathteacher What questions could you ask different grade levels?

Real situation. Imagine that you are having a bath after a hard day of work. You have been in the bath for a while and the water is now a little chilly. You decide to add more water, only to realize that since your kids stayed home all day...school closed due to snow...They used up most of the hot water. Wait for it. You really want to stay in the tub. You ask one of your children to put on a pot of water to boil in a big pot. I want to figure out how much boiling water would be needed to make the water hot again? Whew! A lot of info. What would we need to figure out this problem? #mathintherealworld #mathteacher #mathwithnonumbers...yet. #DoKlevels

The other donut was a blueberry donut. if they shared each donut equally, what fraction of each donut did each person get? What fraction of the 2 donuts did each person get? #mathintherealworld #mathteacher #dunkindonuts

Two-thirds of one and a half. Just from using the diagram...how much would 1/3 x 1 1/2 be or 4/3 x 1 1/2? Curious...can you think of a word problem where this equation would reflect the situation? #mathintherealworld #mathteacher

Sadly, lots of math in immigration detention. Pose a question regarding the chart. My challenge to you: How fast can you find out who #danielavargas is?
